NAPW Napa, CA Local Chapter Kicked Off With a Successful Launch with Two Guest Speakers at October Networking Event

The NAPW Napa, CA Local Chapter was successfully launched on October 25th when members and guests gathered for a professional networking event at the River Terrace Inn. During the launch meeting, Attendees had the opportunity to network and learn more about NAPW and the Napa, CA Local Chapter. Informative presentations from two guests speakers: Sharon Darrow, the first NAPW Local Chapter President and Heidi Stenner, Professional Geologist of CA and Senior Scientist with the Civil Engineering Department at Exponent, were highlights of the evening.

Napa Local Chapter President Rose G. Bambao kicked off the launch by extending a warm welcome to members, guests, and guest speakers. The group of professional women met in the Executive Boardroom of the River Terrace Inn where lite appetizers and nonalcoholic beverages were provided. Rose encouraged everyone to introduce themselves and then read aloud the NAPW Mission Statement.

"Our Mission Statement is to provide the most advanced forum for members to connect with like-minded professional women to develop innovative business and social relationships," she said. "We continually offer our members the resources and benefits necessary to foster professional and personal success."

She then went on to describe the roles of a number of key executives within the NAPW National Organization:

Matthew Proman, NAPW Pres women's jackets ident, serves as the Founder and President of The National Association of Professional Women – NAPW. Visit [napw.com and click on the Founder tab located at the bottom of the page for a complete description.

Cindy Burns, National Director of Local Chapters, has ultimate authority over the formation and operation of Local Chapters. Cindy is assisted by various Regional Chapter Managers, each of whom is responsible for day-to-day questions, oversight of, and interaction with Chapter Presidents.

The evening's first guest speaker then took the floor. Sharon Darrow is the former President of the NAPW Sacramento, CA Local Chapter and the first-ever Local Chapter President of NAPW. Sharon shared her knowledge of the organization and her experience working with Matthew Proman and Cindy Burns.

"I am extremely proud to have started the first NAPW Local Chapter in Sacramento, California, in February 2009," she told the crowd. "Working with Matthew and Cindy is a great experience; being involved with NAPW has greatly developed my ability to network and communicate with others."

Sharon is the Owner of Travel ID Cards located in Sacramento, travelidcard.com.
Her company produces custom ID cards, with or without photos, for companies, organizations, sports teams, or any group that can benefit from identification badges, and also produces photo ID cards for children, impaired adults, and pets. Sharon is involved with Families for Early Autism Treatment and other autism related activities, and has been involved in animal rescue for over 20 years. "Sharon is an amazing person and it was great listening to her experiences, both business and personal, and her passion for her charitable causes," said Rose. "She has also provided other helpful sites for small business such as SCORE and SBDC by County."

Following Sharon's heartfelt presentation, Heidi Stenner took the floor. An expert in earthquakes and a proponent of being prepared, Heidi provided a presentation of the earthquakes that have occurred locally and internationally, along with the active faults in the Vallejo, Benicia, Fairfield,
Napa Valley, and the East Bay. In her very informative presentation, Heidi spoke about the aftermath of the Loma Prieta Earthquake that devastated Northern California's Oakland/San Francisco Bay Area. There is a current concern of the next earthquake: 'The Big One.'

Public announcements on the television and radio about preparing yourself and your family for this potential disaster are more frequent, Heidi told the audience. She reminded everyone of the normal things that we have access to everyday such as water, food, clothing, homes, restrooms, street/highway access, ATM's, and phones, may not be available when a city or community shuts down due to an earthquake or other disasters.

"Heidi provided handouts to prepare everyone for the potential earthquake or disasters," said Rose. "It was great listening to Heidi's presentation. It is a reminder that everyone needs to prepare."
